Start Thinking About Japanese Beetles and Grubs

Japanese Beetles cause us headaches every summer!  These beetles are green-metallic looking bugs that are about the size of a peanut. They come from white grubs in the soil, and turn to beetles in June. They fly around mating & eating plants like roses, crabapples, birch, lindens, cypress, etc.. In July, they lay eggs in the soil, hatch in August, and become destructive white grubs on your lawn.

We have 2 treatment options to control beetles and grubs:

  • Mallet 5G spreadable granular  30# bag/ covers 15,000 sq. ft.
  • Once-A-Year Insect Control in sprayable quarts  Tree & Shrub see label

Apply Mid-May to Early June

  • Apply either product around the drip line of your roses, crabapples, birch, lindens, cypress for beetles
  • Apply Mallet 5G to lawn for grubs
