It Continues to Stay Dry
It has caused major problems for getting seed in the ground this Fall. Go to our website and read my latest blog on what your options are for seeding yet this year. I will give you a hint….GET IT IN THE GROUND
The Leaves are Falling
I am chasing leaves again. Rake ‘em up or mow them up, but keep them off the grass so they don’t smother the lawn. Mulching them into the grass works very well, and may have a positive effect on building better soil.
When should I do my Weed & Feed?
Our 19-0-6 w/Lockup is the product of choice!
I see more weeds in my lawn this Fall than normal, probably due to thin grass from dry conditions. Now is the best time to control many broadleaf weeds in lawns. It will take the herbicide down to the roots for better kill and a cleaner lawn come spring! The result is terrific looking turf that fills in fast behind retreating weeds. I have seen good results applying in November. If you are seeding late, you will need to skip this application until spring. Apply to wet grass for best results. Spreading in the morning dew works great!
New Starter Fertilizer with Organics
We are excited to offer a new starter fertilizer for early spring applications.
Green Alliance 13-24-10 with 25% Top Cut organic fertilizer.
This will help the grass, seed, soil, and the environment.
Did you miss seeding your lawn this Fall?
In my opinion, the second best time to seed is winter. Some folks call that dormant seeding. Old timers used to come in and get seed before a snow. They would put it out over the snow so they could see where they are going for even coverage. Then during the freeze and thaw cycle over the winter, the seed works its way into soil and germinates exactly when the soil temps are right. I plan to put some seed out in thin, shady spots once the ground freezes this winter!
Bugs are coming in for winter, Monterrey Bug Spray
I am finding large spiders running around. It always reminds me it’s time to treat around the house for spiders and other bugs. This is a great time to clean up the garage from spider webs and spray all the corners, cracks, and crevices. While spraying, go around your outside foundation, too. It will keep things cleaner going into spring and the house free of the creepy crawlers. Come pick up a quart of Monterrey Bug Spray.
Just 3 oz /gallon will control everything around the house. One spray should get you through to spring. This same product can then be used next year for landscape bug sprays!
Don’t miss your winterizer application this year!
Cool season grasses, like tall fescue, tend to slow down leaf growth in the fall to produce more roots for storage reserves. Fertilizing in late November encourages leaf growth only slightly while greatly enhancing root production and storage. This results in denser and healthier turf year round. Try our Green Alliance 30-0-8 Winterizer for your lawn.
